Vortex users who still can't get the animations to work after trying the manual installation fix!!
I reinstalled through vortex instead of manually, and while running FINIS I just ticked the MO/Vortex path support patch on the bottom list (probably should have had it ticked anyway, but shh), loaded the game and the animations were running without any problems!
This might have just been me having no common sense, but if you're having troubles with the manual installation, it wouldn't hurt to tick that patch in FINIS first then install normally as it might work for you :D
Just to help others because it annoyed me trying to figure out why the animation not playing for me when I tried the fixes and everything working except this mod
It's beautiful...Sometimes I'm watching at the screen with the open mouth because how immersive It's look like when characters during a quest posing and their movement feel so...full of life!
I got OAR set up and running. This is installed. OAR shows GAR as loaded with the message "No problems." And I see all the animations in the OAR GUI.
But nothing happens. None of the NPCs ever perform any of the animations.
Complete OAR noob here. Is there anything I need to do to "activate" this?
No other animation mods or anything installed. Just OAR + this.
EDIT: For posterity I guess I just needed some patience. When NPCs have their arms folded, additional idles don't seem to play. The first several NPCs I spoke with were standing there with their arms crossed. I finally got a conversation where someone was standing normally and I got all sorts of extra gestures.
Is the animations intended to be only played during player dialogue when in third person? I checked it on multiple NPCs now, and depending on whether or not I am in the first person, I get the animations.
That is the most peculiar problem I heard :) Clearly not how my mod is supposed to work! If you have user config for this mod, delete it, maybe you made condition changes Try to download new archives with OAR and GAR and reinstall Re-run Nemesis or what you have if you have (perhaps some other more complex mod interferes) If that was not helpful, you can analyze the situation, select gesturing npc with console, activate animation log in OAR menu, go from talking to this npc in 3 and 1 person view and back, what information you will see in log?
Thanks for the extensive troubleshooting guide! I will test it once I return to modding (next week). If I find something, I'll let you know. Maybe it's also interesting for someone else.
I tested again and this time I saw some of the animations. I also want to specify that this only happens with the NPC you engage in dialogue with. NPC scenes (e.g. when entering Whiterun) work just fine while in first person.
Edit: The mod is working just fine in first person. I don't know why it didn't play the animations initially but now they're there.
I didn't check it when I first noticed the problem. Now that the problem is gone, the animation log shows a nice mix of this and your other NPC gesture mod (which aligns with the visible animations). I will keep an eye out and if the problem re-occurs, I will check the animation log. Just wanted to say that your animations are great! They add a lot to the game.
I've been looking around, and I'm surprised I haven't found any Mods similar to this one that gives the Player Character these Gestures when they talk to NPCs using the Dragonborn Voiceover Mod. I think it would be interesting to see the player character also become animated as well in this way.
I completely agree!! But some other modder has to make player character gesture when dialogue option is pressed and only after that I will be able to add variety to it with OAR using gesture animations I have ready...
Is it possible to use those animations on the player character? I am using Alternative Camera + Dragonborn Voice Over and I'd like to make my character more lively with your fantastic animations!
Thanks :) Unfortunatelly this animations are too short and therefore too repetitive to be used as player idles. But I made long enough idles - Female Player Animations. Yes, only for females now, but I will make male version when I will have the time. For males you can use Realistic Animation Project - Idles, but you will need to convert them to SE and rename and make proper DAR folder structure (its easy, see how I made it with my mod)
I'm hoping to do the same! I don't want to use them as regular idles, just when the character is speaking via Dragonborn Voice Over, which gives the player a voice.
With DBVO and Alternate Conversation Camera, it's now possible to see our own character speak like an NPC. Do you think it's possible to enable your gesture animations for the player character during dialogue as well, while overriding/disabling idle animations like the ones from your other mods, FPA and MPA? I think that would be really cool if it's possible.
It is surely possible, juhaaaa made Animated Interactions And Idles which had animations being played by player character in dialogue. Unfortunatelly mod is bugged and author can't continue working on it, but permissions are open, maybe some clever modded can help to make it work.
I will be happy to see a mod like that available! I don't have required skills to create something like that, but it will be very easy for me to use gesture animations I already made for PC.
Hey fellow modders, do you have ideas how it can be done?

DAR is causing crashes you heard? Well yes, but actually NO, read this short article "Too many DAR animations can lead to CTD - read this to know how to avoid it"
Version of this mod for Legendary Edition Skyrim is ready! Gesture Animation Remix (DAR) - LE 1.1.0 version

just disable "NoAnimResetNPCTest.esp" if you have Aroused Sexy Idles - OAR it worked for me
